Approximately 10 years ago, Pauline and Rob from Pauline Quilters World, began Margie’s Quilts of Hope as a small contribution to raise money for cancer research. This wonderful initiative quickly grew to raise hundreds of thousands for the Breast Cancer Foundation, with over 5000 crafters contributing their time and effort into producing patchwork blocks that would be auctioned as part of a quilt to raise the much needed funds.
After many years of work and support, Pauline has had to take a step back and now CraftAlive has decided to breathe new life into Quilts of Hope!
Moving forward, Quilts of Hope will benefit Challenge, a not-for-profit organisation that provides daily support for children and families living with cancer, or a life-threatening blood disorder, from the time of diagnosis through treatment and beyond. Through their programs and services, they aim to make life easier for the whole family as they deal with fighting their illness.
CraftAlive runs Australia’s largest regional craft shows and has been around for over 26 years. We aim to bring a sense of family to our shows and prides ourselves on bringing together both interstate and local talented exhibitors to inspire young and old. Pauline joined us as an exhibitor in 2013 and we have established a great relationship with her and Rob over the last few years. After building a great reputation throughout Australia we found the right opportunity for giving back to the community.
We have aligned ourselves with strong partnerships to create the biggest impact possible. We are really excited to have Ella Blue Fabrics as our fabric sponsor who have generously donated the fabric required to begin each block. Universal Magazines and more have also come on board to support this great cause.
We are very excited to be bringing this great initiative back to life and we need your help. If you would like to be a part of Quilts of Hope again, Click on “How to Get Involved”, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 03 9682 5133 and we will send you your application form and kit.
